Gingrich Never Fined on Ethics Matter

Associates of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich are stepping forward to rebut accusations from Republican presidential rival Mitt Romney that he resigned in “disgrace” and paid an ethics “fine.”

Gingrich insisted during a candidates debate Monday that reports he was fined $300,000 for House ethics violations are inaccurate and records back up his claim the payment was not a fine.

A Newsmax examination of the House Ethics Committee report, and the record of the House debate in January 1997 as recorded in the Congressional Record, supports Gingrich’s contention that the $300,000 he paid was a “reimbursement” or “sanction” related to legal fees, but not a fine or admission of any wrongdoing.

Thoughtsjustofcenter: I thought it was a fine, I guess we all were wrong. However, I still have to ask: "Why haven't the media picked up on Newt's ex-wife saying that he is/was an ethical man?"

The results of Iowa

Newt Gingrich came in fourth place in the hotly contested Iowa caucuses Tuesday night, a result similar to both Bill Clinton's in 1992 and John McCain's in 2008.

Despite the fourth-place showing in Iowa, Clinton and McCain nabbed their party's nomination. Gingrich hopes to do the same.

Gingrich's top-four showing in Iowa — despite a barrage of local and national TV ads totaling more than $10 million against him — gives him a solid platform to continue his primary battle.

Rick Santorum has not weathered the same intense media scrutiny as Gingrich has, nor does he have the national organizational and fundraising base Gingrich has.

On Monday, the Gallup tracking poll had Romney at 24 percent and Gingrich at 23 percent, a neck-and-neck race. Santorum pulled only 6 percent in the Gallup poll.

Romney, who was considered the Iowa front-runner, faces a daunting challenge as the GOP primary calendar unfolds.

He pulled no more votes in 2012 than he did in 2008. He has spent more than $15 million between both races to win Iowa — forking over $500 a vote for the past two elections combined.

Thoughtsjustoffcenter: I most certainly hope Newt can pull it together. Romney has the demoRATS backing and will propably lose to Obama in the general election for that reason. Romey is definately on the left side of the isle, I still can't figure out why he is running as a Republican.

Wisconsin Union Council Bans Repulicans from Labor Day Parade

“A Wisconsin labor council that sponsors the Labor Day parade in Wausau is giving Republican lawmakers their walking papers — in the form of banning them from walking in the parade this year — saying they are unfriendly to union workers.”

Excuse me I’m a worker or was since I'm now retired.  I’ve never belonged to a union.

The Unions are totally out of control and against the tax payer and even some of their own members only belong because they had to join in order to get a job. I remember that part very well, because that’s what my friends did in order to get work – back in the 1970’s. It’s still alive and well in that respect today in most of the areas of our great country.

In the past, the unions have done some good things for the American worker, yet they have gotten way out of control, as I learned when I got out of the Army back in 1977 and refused to join up, and the article by Newsmax shows.

I do not believe in unions within our government institutions and this article points out a very good reason that the Mayor and city council positions should NOT be political party affiliated.

We are slowly losing our country to the socialist’s. It makes me sick.

Luckily, I live in an Independent Stronghold, because that’s how I’ll always be.

I will bow down before no one other than GOD and his son Jesus Christ.
